Bisons Take Down Tigers 6-1 in Weekday Match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis welcomed the Tennessee State Tigers to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on Wednesday as their final non-conference opponents of the season. The Bisons brought home a 6-1 victory to improve to 6-7 on the season.
The Purple and Gold hit the ground running in doubles play, quickly taking the lead with a 6-0 sweep on court three from Liza Diachenko and Perri Howard. Sasha Dobranos and Anja Trbeznik sealed the doubles point in Lipscomb's favor with a 6-4 win on court one.
Sofiia Paladi and Alina Cherniaieva were well on their way to securing a third victory as they led 5-3 in their unfinished match when the doubles point was decided.
The squad kept the pressure on in singles play as Dobranos continued the Bisons' push with a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at the top spot. Her doubles partner Trbeznik carried the momentum with her on court three to put the Bisons up 3-0 with her 6-2, 6-2 win.
Taisia Yakunina got in on the fun with a 6-3, 6-0 win on court six, closely followed by Liza Diachenko's win on court four (6-4, 6-3). Alina Cherniaieva brought home the Bisons' sixth point of the match with her 7-5, 6-1 win on court five.
The Tigers put up a tough battle on court two and claimed the final point of the contest with a three-set win on court two over Paladi (1-6, 6-3, 6-2).
