THE SHORT STORY
After Kaylyn Belfield singled up the middle to score Josey Polk and even the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Elise Shewmaker sent a 2-0 pitch to right field to score Maci Cunconan to give the Bisons a 2-1 come-from-behind victory to clinch the sweep over Bellarmine to open ASUN play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first two innings, Lipscomb nearly broke through in the bottom of the third inning as Beflield singled to third base, but Bellarmine was able to obtain the final two outs to keep the score at 0-0.

The Knights broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth with one run on three hits.

Emily Yakubowski held Bellarmine hitless in their final three at-bats to set the stage for the bottom of the seventh.

Polk, Cunconan, and Katelyn Belding all singled to open the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Bisons bases loaded with no outs. After the Knights recorded the first out, Belfield hit a single up the middle to plate Polk and tie the game at 1-1.

Shewmaker stepped into the third pitch she saw and lifted it to shallow right field to score Cunconan from third base in walk-off fashion.

Yakubowski picked up her ninth win in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing one earned run on three hits in 7.0 inning of work.

Bellarmine's Claire Lehmkuhler allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings of work to be credited with the loss for the Knights.

Cunconan and Belfield paced the Bisons from the plate, going a combined 4 for 6 with an RBI and a runs scored. Shewmaker, Polk, and Belding also recorded hits for Lipscomb.
