THE SHORT STORY
After Lipscomb scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to even the score at 3-3, Stetson tallied five runs in the top of the seventh, while only allowing two final runs by the Bisons, to clinch the ASUN victory in the opening game of the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stetson opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with two runs on two hits to take the early lead and pushed the lead to 3-0 with a run on two hits in the top of the fourth inning.
Lipscomb responded in the bottom of the fourth as
Joie Giarrizzo singled up the middle and later stole second to put a runner in scoring position with two outs.
Kaylyn Belfield singled to left center to plate Giarrizzo from second to cut into the deficit.
The Bisons added to their run total in the bottom of the fifth as
Kamrie Rich singled to left center field to score
Presley Leebrick, who led off with a double.
Briyana Wright entered as a pinch runner for Rich and sprinted to third from first on a sacrifice bunt by
Maci Cunconan to put a runner in scoring position. Shewmaker reached on a fielder's choice in the next at-bat, while Wright beat the throw home from first base to even the score at 3-3.
The Hatters tallied five runs on five hits in the top of the seventh to take an 8-3 lead into the final at-bat.
Rich doubled in the second at-bat of the inning to score Leebrick to give the Bisons their fourth run of the contest.
Kyndall Crawford entered as a pinch runner for Rich, advanced to third on a single by Cunconan and scored on a sacrifice fly by Shewmaker to cut the lead to 8-5.
Stetson was able to record the final two outs to clinch the conference win.
Emily Yakubowski was credited with the loss in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing three earned runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings of work, while
Laine Barefoot allowed three earned runs on four hits in 0.2 innings of relief.
Stetson's Hannah Marien picked up the win for the Hatters, allowing three earned runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings of work, while Caitlyn Kulczyski gave up two earned runs on three hits in 2.0 innings of relief.
Rich went 3 for 3 from the plate with two RBIs to pace the Bisons, while Leebrick and Belding combined for four hits and two runs scored. Belfield, Cunconan,
Josey Polk, and Giarrizzo all collected hits in the loss.

Katelyn Belding hit a triple in the bottom of the seventh to put a runner in scoring position for the Bisons,
Kaylyn Belfield walked off with a single through the right side to score Belding and give Lipscomb the ASUN victory in the later game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first three innings of action, Stetson broke the deadlock with a run on two hits in the top of the fourth.
The Bisons responded in the bottom of the fifth as Belding hit a lead-off double to left center to give Lipscomb a base runner. Belfield grounded out to the shortstop two batters later to score Belding to even the score at 1-1.
Lipscomb held the Hatters to no hits in their final two at-bats to give themselves a game-winning opportunity in the bottom of the seventh. Belding hit a triple to right center field with one out to put a runner in prime scoring position. Belfield hit the third pitch she saw through the right side of the infield to clinch the come-from-behind win for the Bisons.
Brinkley Kita earned her fourth win of the season in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing only one earned run on four hits in 7.0 innings of work.
The Hatters' Lauren Hobbs was credited with the loss, allowing two earned runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings of work.
Belfield, Rich, and Belding combined for six hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored to pace the Bisons in the late game, while Cunconan also collected a hit in the win.
