Men’s Tennis Concludes 2023 Season in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lipscomb men's tennis traveled to Fort Myers, Fla. to compete in the first round of the ASUN Men's Tennis Conference Tournament Wednesday morning for a matchup with Stetson. The Bisons 2023 campaign concluded with the completion of their contest with the Hatters that ended 4-1 in Stetson's favor.

After relinquishing the doubles match on court three in a walkover, the Hatters secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court one over Carlos Salas Tulla and Luka Stojanovic. Henrique Ushizima and Vikash Singh were locked in a 4-4 stalemate with their opponents on court two when the point was decided.

Stetson's lead expanded to 3-0 in the match with walkovers on courts five and six for the Bisons, but the squad pushed back with big energy in singles play. Luka Stojanovic (6-4) and Henrique Ushizima (6-4) each claimed the first set on their courts while Vikash Singh pushed his opponent to a 7-5 finish in Stetson's favor for the first set on court two.

After falling 6-3 in the first set on court three, Salas Tulla came back with a 6-3 win of his own in the second set to push for a third-set tiebreaker. After falling 6-2 in the second set, Stojanovic engaged his own Hatter opponent in a third-set battle on court four.

Ushizima capitalized on the Bisons' momentum with a 6-2 win in his second set to claim a straight set victory over his Stetson foe on court one to put the Bisons on the board (6-4, 6-2). Despite a strong battle for the squad, Singh fell 6-2 to his opponent on two, awarding the Hatters the clinch point and halting play in the match (7-5, 6-2).

Salas Tulla and Stojanovic's matches were abandoned in the third set once the clinch point decided for final scores of 3-6, 6-3, 3-2(unfinished) and 6-4, 2-6, 1-2(unfinished) respectively for the pair. The Bisons end their season 6-15 overall with a 2-7 mark in conference play.
