HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons came out on fire as Caleb Ketchup set the tone with a quick walk for an early base runner. Alex Vergara quickly put Lipscomb on the board with an RBI triple and Mason Lundgrin followed that with an RBI double for a quick 2-0 lead. Trace willhoite added to the damage with a single straight up the middle that scored another run for a 3-0 lead before the first out of the game.

Logan Van Treeck headed to the mound and kept things going, fanning the first Hatter that he saw. Stetson, however, got on the board with a one-out solo home run to cut the early deficit 3-1. A fielding error gave Stetson another base runner, but Van Treeck quickly got the next two outs to retire the side.

Lipscomb picked up right where it left off offensively with a leadoff double from David Coppedge in the top of the second. Coppedge tagged up to third on a fly ball to left field, but he was stranded as the Bisons took a 3-1 advantage to the bottom of the second. Van Treeck protected the lead when he struck out the side in the home half of the inning.

The Hatters continued to chip away at Lipscomb's lead in the bottom of the third with a leadoff home run, but the Bisons quickly shut down the momentum with three-consecutive outs. Lipscomb would take a 3-2 lead to the fourth inning.

For the second inning in a row, Lipscomb got a runner in scoring position with less than two outs, but they were stranded in both innings as Lipscomb kept a 3-2 lead after the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, Stetson hit its third solo home run of the night to tie things at three each heading into the fifth.

The Bisons continued to get runners on base, but struggled to drive them in as the game sat tied at three heading into the eighth inning.

Lipscomb's bats woke back up in the top of the eighth to retake the lead. With one out, Parks Bouck and Coppedge had back-to-back hits for runners on first and second. Pinch hitter Will Lee then drove Bouck home with a single to right field. Ketchup gave the Bisons an insurance run with an RBI single that scored Coppedge and gave Lipscomb a 5-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Hayden Frank relieved Van Treeck in the bottom of the eighth and retired the Hatters in order to keep the 5-3 Lipscomb lead heading into the final frame.

Willhoite gave Lipscomb another run in the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff home run, giving the Bisons a 6-3 advantage.

In the bottom of the ninth, Frank struck out the first batter he saw, but the Hatters once again sent a solo shot over the left field fence, cutting the lead to just a pair. Willhoite, however, took matters into his own hands with two impressive defensive stops at third base to close out the 6-4 victory.
