THE SHORT STORY
After Austin Peay scored a run in the top of the second and third innings, the Governors tallied five more runs in the top of the sixth inning to clinch the conference win over Lipscomb on Draper Diamond.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons nearly broke through first in the bottom of the first inning as
Presley Leebrick and
Kamrie Rich both singled to give Lipscomb a runner in scoring position, but the Governors were able to obtain the final out to keep the score level.

Austin Peay broke the deadlock with a single run on one hit in the top of the second and extended its lead with another run in the top of the third.

The Governors pushed their lead to 7-0 in the top of the sixth with five runs on four hits in the frame to clinch the conference win.

Emily Yakubowski was credited with the loss in the circle for Lipscomb, allowing five runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work, while
Laine Barefoot and
Macey Ogle combined to allow two runs on one hit in 1.2 innings of relief.

Austin Peay's Jordan Benefiel picked up the win in the circle, giving up only five hits in 6.0 innings of work, while Samantha Miener did not allow a hit in 1.0 innings of relief.
