HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Lipscomb could not complete the series sweep as they struggled to produce offensively, resulting in a 9-4 loss to the Flames on Sunday.
Lipscomb scored the contest's first run in the bottom of the first inning on a double down the left field line by Trace Willhoite to score Mason Lundgrin. The Flames answered with runs in each of the following three innings to give them a 4-1 lead.Â
The Bisons managed to plate one run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly to right field by Jake Berg, but the Bisons were blanked in the next three innings. Liberty added three runs combined in the seventh and eighth for a 6-2 advantage.Â
Coach Forehand's ball club showed life in the eighth to cut the Flames' lead in half. Parks Bouck opened the Bisons' at-bat with a walk, and Caleb Ketchup launched his seventh homer of the season on a ball that carried over the left-center field wall. However, the Bisons stranded two batters to close the inning, halting their rally attempt.
Liberty put the contest out of reach with three runs in the top of the ninth inning, holding off the sweep with a 9-4 victory at Ken Dugan Field. Lipscomb finished with four hits and two errors against the Flames in game three.Â
