Women’s Tennis Adds Three to 2023-24 Roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a year with impressive performances from the 2022-23 freshman class, the Lipscomb women's tennis team will increase its roster depth with the addition of three to their 2023-24 squad as announced Monday morning. The Bisons are set to welcome Mariia "Masha" Dolzhenko, Deborah Dominguez Collado, and Sonia Pieczynska to Music City in the fall of 2023.
 
"We're so excited for the direction of the program with this recruiting class!" commented head coach Jamie Aid. "These girls on-court consist of a talent level that will have an instant impact for us. Additionally, I think each of them are going to make wonderful teammates. These three are all outgoing, confident, and excited to be a part of the Lipscomb community."
 
Mariia Dolzhenko, joins the Purple and Gold from Kharkiv, Ukraine with a UTR of 10.15. She is the number two ranked player in Ukraine and has achieved a highest ITF ranking of 410 in her preparatory career.
 
When asked why she chose Lipscomb, Masha responded, "I chose Lipscomb because of its tennis and academics. I have had many friends who have played at Lipscomb that have had great experiences at the university. I am excited to join the team in the fall."
 
Deborah Dominguez Collado is set to join the Herd from Guatemala City, Guatemala with a UTR of 9.37. She is the top ranked played in Guatemala and boasts a highest ITF ranking of 195 from her time in juniors. Among her other accomplishments, Dominguez Collado competed in the 2023 Guatemala Fed Cup, is an Orange Bowl participant, and competed in the Eddie Herr International Junior Championship.
 
In response to the question of why she chose Lipscomb, Deborah responded, "I am excited to study at Lipscomb University because of its inspiring vision, vibrant spirit, and beautiful location in Nashville. Additionally, I have a great connection with the tennis team and coach, making it an ideal place for me to pursue my academic and athletic goals."
 
The third to join the squad, Sonia Pieczynska, comes to Music City from Poznan, Poland as the No. 2 ranked player in Poland. She has collected a UTR of 9.34 and a highest ITF ranking of 611 in her preparatory career.
 
When asked why she chose Lipscomb, Sonia responded that, "The choice was very simple, tennis is my priority in life, so I chose a university with wonderful team spirit and a very high education level. I was looking for a competitive Division I program, and I feel like the Lipscomb community has what I am looking for. During the recruiting process, I truly felt that Lipscomb was the best choice for me. From
the beginning, I have had a lot of respect for Coach Aid and her work with the Lipscomb Tennis team."
 
"My goal has always been to have Lipscomb on the national map and make this program a family," Aid finished. "We are fortunate to add Deborah, Sonia, and Masha to our tennis family."
