Men’s Tennis Brings Home 4-3 Thriller on Senior Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis faced off with the Austin Peay Governors for the second time this season as they celebrated their five seniors Wednesday morning on Senior Day. The Bisons brought the early morning heat to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center and took home the 4-3 win over their ASUN opponent.
 
The squad showed their fight early in the match as they quickly claimed the doubles point with wins on court one from Maksim Bogdanovich and Luka Stojanovic (6-2) and court two from Jake Penny and Carlos Salas Tulla (6-3).
 
The squad kept the pedal to the metal as Salas Tulla put away his opponent on court six in two sets at 6-2, 6-3 in his tenth singles win of the season to put the squad up 2-0 in the match. The Governors got on the board next as senior Alex Mesquida retired in the second set of his match (5-7, 2-3, wr).
 
Vikash Singh re-upped the momentum for the Bisons from court five with another straight set win over his opponent (6-3, 6-4) to put Lipscomb in a clinching position. After an incredible fight from the graduate student, Jake Penny fell to his opponent 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 on court four to bring the match within one point once more.
 
Maksim Bogdanovich brought home the clinch point for the Purple and Gold after an absolute knock-down drag-out battle at the top spot which concluded with set scores of 2-6, 7-6(12-10), 6-3. The Governors took home the final point of the match on court two following a marathon of a match between Henrique Ushizima and his Austin Peay opponent that ended 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in the Governors' favor.

Lipscomb's squad will head to Florence, Ala. on Saturday, April 5 to take on the North Alabama Lions for the squad's final matchup of the season beginning at 12:00pm CT.
