HOW IT HAPPENED

For the second time this season, Lipscomb knocked off a nationally ranked ball club on the road, defeating No. 6 Arkansas in extra innings 8-6.

After a three up, three down inning to open the contests, with one swing of the bat, Arkansas took a three-run lead, hitting a homer after two walks.

Despite the action in the first frame, Lipscomb limited the No. 6 ranked Razorbacks to minimal success offensively. The Bisons inched their way back into the ball game on a solo home run by Cale Ketchup for Lipscomb's first run of the game.

They followed that inning with two runs, on two fielder's choice, with the bases loaded to tie the game in the third frame. The Bisons continued to hold Arkansas off the board as they went scoreless for six straight innings.

Lipscomb then and put up three runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-3 lead. In another bases-loaded situation, Will Lee walked to score the first run of the sequence, then a wild pitch scored another, followed by a sacrifice fly by Ketchup to score the final run in the inning.

The Razorbacks clawed their way back to tie the game due to some mistakes from the Bisons. Two wild pitches and a throwing error allowed all three runs to score. But, Lipscomb managed to get out of the inning on a strikeout with the score still tied.

Neither team managed to get a run across in the ninth, forcing extra innings. Lipscomb scored two in the 11th inning to claim their second victory over a ranked team this season.

The inning started with a pair of walks followed by a single from Trace Willhoite to left field to score one. Then, a sacrifice fly out to left by Jake Berg plated another after a sac bunt moved Willhoite and Lundgrin to second and third.

The Bisons' top closer Hayden Frank sat the Arkansas order down, retiring the three batters he faced in the 11th to secure the upset win. Lipscomb held the sixth-ranked Hogs to five hits and struck out Razorback batters 12 times. Frank earned the win after pitching the final 3.1 innings and allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.
