Women’s Soccer Unveils 2023 Schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb Women's Soccer program and head coach Kevin O'Brien released the program's 2023 schedule Friday afternoon. The squad put together an exciting season over their 2022 slate of matches and now the Purple and Gold have turned their attention forward to the coming 20-match season set to begin in August.

"It's so exciting to be posting our fall schedule because that means the season is not too far away," said head coach Kevin O'Brien. "This year's schedule will challenge our team each and every week and should prepare the girls for another competitive ASUN campaign."

This season the Bisons have set a formidable schedule to challenge themselves right off the line following their 11-5-3 2022 season. Last season, the squad collected accolades including the ASUN Player of the Year, the ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year, four ASUN First Team All-Conference Selections, three ASUN Second Team All-Conference Selections, an ASUN Third Team All-Conference Selection, and two ASUN All-Academic Team selections.

Things kick off with an in-state road trip as the Bisons take on the Memphis Tigers on August 9th in an exhibition match before returning home for a four-match homestand.

After welcoming Troy to Nashville (8/17), the Bisons will host back-to-back Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents with Tennessee on August 20th followed by Final Four participant Alabama on the 24th. A matchup with the Siena College Saints will round out the homestand on the 27th before the squad heads down to Murfreesboro to take on the MTSU Blue Raiders on the 31st to close out their August matches.

September will see the squad return to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex to face off with the University of Evansville on September 3rd before welcoming their third SEC foe of the season to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex when Ole Miss comes into town for a 6 p.m. match-up on September 7th. The squad's final non-conference matchup will take the Bisons down the road to Clarksville and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (9/10).

Eastern Kentucky will open ASUN play for the Bisons as the Colonels travel to Nashville for a matchup on September 14th before Lipscomb's squad hits the road to take on another Kentucky-based opponent – the Bellarmine Knights (9/17). The Purple and Gold will then travel to the Sunshine State to take on the North Florida Ospreys (9/21) and the Jacksonville Dolphins (9/24).

The Bisons will return home for a pair of matches against North Alabama (9/29) and Central Arkansas (10/1) before returning to Florida for matchups with Stetson (10/5) and defending ASUN Champions Florida Gulf Coast (10/8) to round out their road matches for the season. Lipscomb's squad will face off with Queens (N.C.) (10/12), Kennesaw State (10/15), and Austin Peay (10/21) to conclude their regular season with a three-match homestand.

"I don't believe that we've ever played a Final Four participant here at Lipscomb and not only do we get to do that this fall with the University of Alabama, we get to host them here in Nashville! On top of that, we'll host two other SEC opponents and I know for a fact we've never had three Power Five schools on our home schedule," O'Brien continued. "It'll be a great opportunity for recruits interested in our program to visit and watch us play against some of the top teams in the country."

"Outside of those marquee matchups, our remaining home schedule includes strong opponents from seven different conferences across the country. Facing quality opponents from so many conferences will definitely allow our girls to see a wide variety of playing styles, which will suit us well heading into ASUN play," finished O'Brien. "This season we have one of the most mature, upper-classmen laden teams that I've ever coached at Lipscomb. The collective experience and hunger of this group should make us competitive in every game."
