MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women's soccer team took a trip down the road to Murfreesboro to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. The matchup got off to a hot start with an electric first half with four goals for the Bisons and a pair of goals for MTSU for a 4-2 score which stood through the remainder of play to award the Bisons their second win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bisons broke out onto the field in Murfreesboro with a dominating presence as Kelli Beiler scored on the very first shot of the match just over three minutes into play when she buried a chip in from Alivia Carapazza. Just 63 seconds later, Carapazza netted her second assist of the match as her long ball into the box was blocked by MTSU's keeper and Kiara Pralle put it to rest for the second shot of the game.

The Blue Raiders finally logged their first shot of the game just under nine minutes into the action and sophomore netminder Sara Kile delivered her first save of the match. Play continued up and down the pitch until Beiler delivered again on a set piece off a free kick just outside MTSU's 18-yard box for a brace.

Both Lipscomb and MTSU's squads continued to turn up the heat with shots from both teams, but it was the Bisons who once again found the back of the net first. Sophomore forward Lucy Ream recorded her first goal as a Bison off a set of back and forth passes with Shelby Craft through the Blue Raiders' defense in the 25th minute of play.

Middle Tennessee put up a strong offensive in the final 15 minutes of play, recording two goals in just over three minutes. The Blue Raiders' first goal broke through a crowded box into the top left corner of the Bisons' goal while the second was buried off a brief breakthrough for MTSU's offense.

The Blue Raiders put one more shot on goal before the half, but the score held at 4-2 going into the break. Momentum turned as the second half began with MTSU recording the first shot of the half just nine seconds after play resumed.

Alivia Carapazza drove into MTSU's end but her shot was blocked and the Blue Raiders cleared it quickly down the field, resulting in a breakaway chance that was soundly shut down by a diving save from Kile in the 47th minute. The follow up shot was turned away by Paige Archbold after an enormous effort from the sophomore defender to beat the breakaway.

MTSU's offense put the pedal to the metal in the next six minutes that all failed to land on target. The Bisons pushed back and Lucy Ream broke through the line to record a shot. Her pressure was followed by what seemed like a beautiful breakthrough goal for Kiara Pralle, but the play was ruled offside and the goal was waved off.

The Blue Raiders continued to challenge Lipscomb's defense with three shots between the 70th and 77th minute marks, one of which was off target and the other two demanding blocks from the team and a leaping save from Kile to hold the score at 4-2.

The Bisons returned the pressure with a big rush from Craft in the 83rd minute wherein she recorded two shots back-to-back in just seven seconds. Play continued predominantly in MTSU's defensive end for the remainder of play but the clock ran out and Lipscomb emerged victorious from the battle between local foes.
