NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's soccer earned their first shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Evansville Aces Sunday night. The Bisons logged all three goals in the first half of the match and went unanswered for the remaining 50 minutes of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads jumped out of the starting gate aggressively, play stayed primarily in the center of the field for the first seven minutes of action with neither side able to complete passes.

The Bisons were the first to turn the tide as Kelli Beiler buried a header with the very first shot of the match to finish a long chip from Shelby Craft from 45 yards out. The header ricocheted down off the crossbar and back to the ground and found its way across the line to put the Bisons up 1-0 eight minutes into the match.

The Purple Aces briefly drove back down the field and took their own shots. However, Kiara Pralle answered the challenge to net her fourth goal of the season with a rocket of a right-footer after Lucy Ream showed off her speed up the left side and delivered a cross to the center of the box through Purple Aces' traffic to Pralle's waiting foot 11 minutes into the action.

The Bisons felt the momentum and Ream drove up the left side once more 14 minutes into play and put a strong shot on target, but it was collected by the Purple Aces' keeper and the 2-0 score held. The Aces logged their first shot on goal of the game 20 minutes into play towards the lower right corner of the Bisons' goal, but it was handily scooped up and turned away by sophomore netminder Sara Kile.

The Bisons continued to run the offensive game in the match, delivering six shots in just over 15 minutes compared to the Aces' two. Bella Carapazza claimed a pair of those shots, including a screamer that went just wide left.

Marcella Cash netted her first goal of the season with a right-footer following a stellar set of back-and-forth passes between Cash and Shadia Valenzuela to up the score to 3-0 just under 40 minutes into play. The Bisons logged two more corner kicks in the final five minutes of the first half, but the score held at a 3-0 advantage for the Bisons going into the break.

The second half got off to a quick start and although the Purple Aces looked set to challenge the Bisons' defense once more, Lipscomb's midfield stepped in big to hold off Evansville's attackers and drive play back into Evansville's defensive end.

Play continued back and forth but both teams battled it out across the entirety of the pitch. Kile maintained her dominating presence in goal as she made a hard save look easy when she stepped out to meet a head-on shot to hold the score at 3-0 in the 61st minute.

As the clock wound down, the Bisons played a possession game, moving the ball around to keep the Purple Aces from developing a chance to even the tally. Eight more shots were recorded throughout the remainder of the match, and all eight belonged to the Bisons.

The closest shot of the final minutes belonged to Valenzuela as she put a rocket of a shot towards the bottom right corner of the net, but she was denied by a diving save from Evansville's netminder. Lydia Hindt took a shot from just inside the half line with a little under one minute left on the clock, but her shot sailed high and the 3-0 score stood as time ran out.
