COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's soccer took to the road for their eighth match of the season against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. Tennessee Tech put up a big showing and sent the Bisons packing 3-1 ahead of the squad's conference opener against Eastern Kentucky on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match kicked off with play holding in the Bisons' defensive end for the first two minutes. The Bisons brought play up into the Golden Eagles' defensive end and earned a pair of corner kick opportunities within the first five minutes of action.

Shelby Craft recorded the first shot of the match eight minutes into play with a head-on shot from the top of the 18-yard box, but it was collected off the bounce by the Golden Eagles' keeper. Tennessee Tech brought the action back down into the Bisons' end to take a shot, but it was sent wide, and the score held steady.

Possession traded hands in the center third of the pitch until the Golden Eagles broke through the Bisons' defense and a shot to the bottom right corner of the net made its way under the diving hands of Sara Kile to put Tennessee Tech on the board first 20 minutes into action.

The Bisons responded with vigor, Craft combined with Kelli Beiler for a pair of dangerous back-to-back shots that were denied by the Golden Eagles.

Craft put another shot on target just under the 27-minute mark, followed by Faith Adams just a few minutes later, but both were stopped by Tennessee Tech's keeper. The Golden Eagles broke through the Bisons' defense 33 minutes into play and a breakaway run put the Cookeville squad up 2-0 in the contest.

The Bisons made a series of rushes through the remaining minutes in the first half with a big shot from Emanuela Schurch from 25 yards out, but the Golden Eagles held onto their lead going into the break.

Lydia Hindt made a big drive early in the second half but was held off by the Golden Eagles. Tennessee Tech returned the pressure in kind and banked a shot off the right post to find the back left corner of the net and go up 3-0 just under 51 minutes into play.

On a rush down the field 58 minutes into action, Kiara Pralle drew a foul that Alivia Carapazza took the free kick on 25 yards out. Carapazza's kick flew towards the top-left corner of the net, but it was punched away by the Golden Eagles' keeper.

As the clock ticked into the 63rd minute, Emanuela Schurch stripped a Tennessee Tech forward of the ball and sent it over to Beiler who launched a long ball up to Kiara Pralle. Pralle sped past the Golden Eagles up the right side and put a rocket of a shot towards the goal, but it ricocheted up off the crossbar and made its way out of play.

The Bisons then made a wave sub of all 11 players on the pitch with just under 25 minutes left on the clock and two minutes later freshman Sadie Wilkinson drove up the field and took her second shot of the season, but it went out high to the left.

With just under 15 minutes left on the clock, Marcella Cash made a big push up the field with Bailey Oetinger and Lucy Hurst, but their crashing rush into the six-yard box was sent out of play.

The door finally opened for the Bisons 81 minutes into play as Lucy Hurst crossed a ball over the 18 yard box from the right side of the pitch. Her ball was punched by the Golden Eagles' keeper to the waiting right foot of Marcella Cash who set it flying over the keeper's hands to put the Bisons on the board.

The Bisons continued to put up a fight through the remaining minutes of play with a big shot from the top of the box for Haley Williams 83 minutes into action. Cash drew a free kick with just under four minutes left on the clock and Lucy Hurst logged a strong shot off the free kick, but it was collected by the Golden Eagles' keeper and Tennessee Tech carried their 2-1 lead through the final whistle.
