CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Lipscomb University volleyball team defeated Austin Peay State University in four sets, Friday night from the Winfield Dunn Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb recorded an 86% side out percentage (13-of-16) and dropped 16 kills on the Austin Peay defense. The Bisons led 10-4 before the Governors had to burn a timeout.
The Bisons took advantage of six attack errors and limited the Govs to nine kills en route to a 25-14 opening set victory.
In the second, the offense got out to a hot start with seven kills in their first 11 attempts.
Tied at five early, the Bisons put together a 7-1 run thanks to kills by
Karlie McNabb,
Courtney Jones,
Meg Mersman and Berkley Mishcler.
Lipscomb did not give Austin Peay any opportunities for long rallies, as the Govs posted a 9-of-25 side out clip in the frame. With the Bisons ahead 19-13,t LUV won the last six points of the set. Leading 22-13, a
Kelsey Schenck ace and back-to-back kills by
Brooklyn Fuchs gave the Bisons the 2-0 lead.
The teams went back-and-forth early in the third set. Tied at 10, APSU went on an 11-6 run to swell its lead to 21-16. Despite the Bisons making it 24-21, a Payton Deidesheimer kill helped the Govs avoid the sweep and force a fourth set.
However, the Bisons returned to normal in the fourth set, and they started off the frame in a big way, winning the first seven points, including five straight by McNabb.
On 24 swings, APSU only posted five kills in the fourth. Meanwhile, Lipscomb had a clean set with no attack errors and had 15 kills on 23 swings to cruise to a 25-11 fourth set win.

KEY STATISTICS
Sophia Hudepohl recorded her 25th career double-double, as she tallied her fourth straight 40-assist match with 45 and added 22 digs. Not only is the reception mark a career-best for the junior, she also secured her first 20-dig performance of her career.
Karlie McNabb dropped seven of her 17 kills in the fourth set, as the graduate student finished with a .382 swing percentage.
Meg Mersman scored 10.5 points thanks to seven kills and five assisted blocks.
Courtney Jones smashed nine kills, while
Cora ter Kuile added seven.
