#3 Lipscomb women's soccer will return to Nashville with extra luggage, bringing home their fourth ASUN Championship trophy and a ticket to the NCAA tournament.
The Bisons topped #5 EKU in a nailbiter of a match. Earlier in the ASUN regular season, Lipscomb topped the Colonels 3-0. EKU entered the ASUN tournament in the first round of play, defeating #1 FGCU in overtime along their road to the championship round.
Just 7' minutes into regulation, freshman
Tatum Ahlemeyer scored Lipscomb's first goal and the only goal of the match between either team. Ahlemeyer intercepted a pass from EKU and sent the ball toward the box, sending it over the keeper's head and into the back of the goal. Ahlemeyer's goal was her secomd of her career, her only other goal being scored in the previous matchup in the ASUN Championship Semifinal round.
Lipscomb's defense kept EKU out of scoring positions for a majority of the match. The Colonels only recorded 6 shots with 4 on goal compared to Lipscomb's 26 shots with 9 on goal.
Kaïna Cesar recorded saves on all 4 of EKU's shots on goal, including a huge stop in the 24' minute to prevent the Colonels from scoring on a free kick.
The Bisons earned 4 ASUN All-Tournament Team selections, including
Paige Archbold,
Lucy Hurst,
Hailey Johnson, and tournament MVP
Kiara Pralle.
