MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Lipscomb University women's basketball team picked up its fifth straight victory with a 71-53 victory at Morehead State University, Sunday afternoon from Johnson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a cold start for both teams through the first four minutes of play, but field goals by
Elena Bertrand,
Molly Heard and
Ainhoa Cea made it a 9-5 lead at the media break.
Morehead State made it a 10-9 lead after an Aileen Marquez triple, but a 7-2 run at the end of the period, capped by a Cea triple at the end of the quarter gave the Bisons a 16-12 lead after a quarter of play.
The Eagles made it an 18-17 deficit with a field goal by Katie Dike to start the second stanza, but a 7-0 run by the visitors, started by a
Taylor Bowen steal and an Olviia Vandergriff driving layup.
Lipscomb pulled away again from Morehead State late in the half, as a
Jalyn Holcomb 3-pointer swelled the lead to double digits, 35-24. The Bisons took a 35-25 halftime lead into the locker room.
The third quarter was all Bisons, as they used a 16-9 period that saw them shoot 6-of-15 from the field and scoring seven of their 16 points off of the Eagles' four turnovers.
Bella Vinson made it a 20-point lead with her driving layup off a turnover.
The Lipscomb defense also held MSU to 3-of-15 from the field in the quarter.
KEY STATISTICS
It was a memorable game for Lipscomb's
Ainhoa Cea, as recorded the first triple-double in Lipscomb's Division I era, according to acquired records. She finished the day with 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting, 11 rebounds and 10 dimes. She set a new career-best in points scored and matched a career-high in assists.
Claira McGowan also posted 15 points, while
Bella Vinson added 12 points and seven rebounds.
HERD NOTES
Ainhoa Cea became the first Lipscomb player since at least the 2009-10 season to achieve a triple-double with her 15-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist game.
Entering Sunday's action, there have been three triple-doubles this season in NCAA Division I.
Already off to its best start in NCAA Division I history, the Bisons have won five straight games, making just the second time in program history to achieve this feat. The previous time came from Nov. 28 to Dec. 7, 2004.
