HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb looked good early and was rewarded with an early goal in the 6' minute.
Levi Jones snuffed out a pass out of the back for Jacksonville, giving the Bisons back possession. After a couple passes, Jones got the ball back and sent the ball back to Medina who was waiting 25 yards out. He put a rocket into the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 Lipscomb lead.
Jacksonville responded a few minutes later when it won a penalty and converted, leveling the match 1-1 in the 14' minute.
The Bisons continued to keep pressure on the Dolphins with shots by
Dan Karsten that flew just above the crossbar and a shot by
Daniel Stampatori that clanged off the post.
The final minutes of the first frame saw both squads have chances, but neither side converted as the game was a 1-1 draw after the first 45 minutes.
Lipscomb had an early attack of the kickoff, but Jacksonville countered and put a ball in the back of the net just a minute into the second half for a 2-1 lead. Just a couple minutes later, the Dolphins scored again for a 3-1 lead with 43 minutes to play.
The Bisons got a goal back in the 72' minute when Jones was taken down from behind in the box to earn a penalty.
Javanne Smith took the resulting spot kick and converted, cutting the deficit 3-2.
Lipscomb nearly equalized in the 77' minute with a great chance in front of goal, but the ball bounced just past the post to keep the Bisons from equalizing.
The Bisons were unable to net any other goals, eventually falling 3-2.
