THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb's season-high 14 triples lifted the Bisons to an 82-44 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday night in Huntsville.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb started out on the front foot early, taking a 7-0 lead with the help of a couple of early triples from
Will Pruitt and
Gyasi Powell.
Alabama A&M started to get in a better rhythm over the next couple of minutes, going on an 8-2 run that saw Lipscomb led 9-8 at the first media timeout of the game.
The three-point shot continued to fall for the Bisons with
Charlie Williams and
Miles White connecting on another pair that pushed Lipscomb out to a 15-10 advantage with just over 11 minutes to play in the frame.
The game was physical and hectic over the next minutes, but Lipscomb maintained control and had a 21-13 lead at the under-eight media timeout.
The Bisons surged out of the timeout, out-scoring the Bulldogs 13-4, forcing an Alabama A&M timeout with 3:55 left to play in the first half.
Lipscomb continued to shoot lights-out from behind the arc, connecting on nine three-pointers in the first half, the most the squad has shot in any half of play this season.
Bolstered by a 53.8-percent field goal percentage for the half, the Bisons held a 44-21 advantage at the half.
Out of the halftime locker room, the Bisons continued to fire on all cylinders and scored the first seven points of the half, jumping out to a 51-21 advantage.
Lipscomb's defense continued to stifle the Bulldogs, holding Alabama A&M to just 28 points with 11:52 left to play in the half.
The game was disjointed with lots of loose balls and turnovers, but the Bisons continued to hold onto a 61-34 advantage at the under-eight timeout of the second half.
Lipscomb was able to see out the game and leave Huntsville with an 82-44 victory.
