NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University women's basketball team opened the 2024-25 season with a 102-50 defeat at Vanderbilt University, Monday afternoon from Memorial Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons had no answer out of the gate, as the Commodores scored the first six points of the game.
Lipscomb did respond with back-to-back triples from
Molly Heard and
Bella Vinson. Seconds after the Vinson jump shot, Heard picked off a a bad pass by Jordyn Oliver and ran it back for two points to even the game at eight.
Unfortunately, the Commodores went on an 18-8 run to push the lead to 16 with 2:32 remaining in the opening quarter. The deficit stayed there at the end of the quarter with a 31-15 lead for VU.
The Commodores increased the lead to 29 in the second stanza to lead 53-25 at the break.
The Bisons started the third quarter with a layup by
Claira McGowan and a second chance opportunity by Heard. However, the Commodores show over 53% on the day and held Lipscomb to under 28%.

KEY STATISTICS
Elena Bertrand posted her first career double-digit performance in scoring on Monday with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. She also added two thefts.
Molly Heard and
Claira McGowan each had four rebounds, with three coming from the offensive glass. McGowan also added two steals to her stat line.
