THE SHORT STORY

Early momentum and big performances from Joe Anderson and Jacob Ognacevic led the way as Lipscomb Men's Basketball earned a 78-69 victory in its home opener against Wofford.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bisons came out on fire in its home opening matchup against Wofford. Charlie Williams netted the first points of the night when he drove up the middle for an easy two points.

Lipscomb continued to hold Wofford to tough shots and converted offensively, getting out to an 11-4 lead at the first media timeout.

The Bisons were on an extended 12-2 run before Wofford stopped the bleeding with a triple. Joe Anderson, however, kept Lipscomb's offense going on the other end with a driving layup for a 16-7 lead.

Wofford fought back, cutting Lipscomb's lead, but the Bisons responded with 10-unanswered points for a 23-13 advantage at the under-12 media timeout.

Lipscomb went cold for the next several minutes, which allowed Wofford to creep back in, 24-17, with 7:22 left in the half.

Dylan Faulkner made his first appearance of the season, and made an immediate impact with an offensive board and a bucket to settle the Lipscomb offense as the Bisons saw a 28-20 lead at the under-eight timeout.

Wofford continued to hang around with the Bisons and cut its deficit to four points with a second-chance triple, but Lipscomb held the ball for the last shot and Ognacevic cashed in for a 38-32 lead at the half.

The second half picked up right where the first left off, with the squads trading blows. Anderson was incredibly active on the defensive end, with a pair of steals that resulted in buckets in the first five minutes of the half.

Lipscomb was able to get more separation when it hit six of its next eight shots, pulling out to a 55-41 advantage with just under 14 minutes left to play.

The Bisons continued to fire at a high clip and stayed out in front, but the Wofford three ball kept the Terriers in striking distance.

Wofford got back within single digits for the first time in several minutes with a triple at the 2:24 mark, cutting the Lipscomb lead 76-67.

The Bisons continued to play well down the stretch, seeing out a 78-69 victory in its home opener.
