THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb Men's Basketball extended its winning streak to four games with a 78-60 decision over Southeast Missouri on Thursday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons jumped out to a hot start, outscoring SEMO 11-4 in the opening minutes for a comfortable lead at the first media timeout.
Out of the break, Lipscomb remained in control, stifling the SEMO offense. The Bisons continued to connect offensively, and pulled out to a 21-12 advantage at the under-23 media timeout of the first half.
Lipscomb's offense stalled over the next minutes which allowed the Redhawks to claw back in, 22-16, before Gyasi Powell got Lipscomb back on the board with a triple from the top of the key.
The pace of the game continued to be quick with both squads making plays, but the Bisons continued to hold a 32-23 advantage at the final media timeout of the first half.
The Bisons never could get much separation, but held a 37-28 advantage at the half.
Lipscomb came out of the half firing, with seven-unanswered points, forcing a SEMO timeout.
The Bisons continued to take control and used a 9-0 run before the under-16 media timeout for a 53-50 Lipscomb lead.
Gyasi Powell continued to assert himself in the Lipscomb offense, catching fire from deep. Powell hit his fifth triple of the night for a 59-32 lead with 14:41 left to play, giving him a season-high 19 points.
The Bisons remained in control through the final minutes of the game and saw out a 78-60 victory on Thursday.
HERD NOTES
Lipscomb takes a short break for finals, but returns to Allen Arena on Monday, Dec. 16 for a matchup with Truett-McConnell. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
