Men’s Tennis Drops Match to Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Lipscomb men's tennis hit the road for their second road match of the season on Saturday to take on Northern Kentucky. The Bisons were laid low by the Norse, falling 4-2 to NKU despite strong fight from the Bisons.
 
The Purple and Gold settled in for a difficult match as doubles play proved to be a fraught battle between the two squads. Krzysztof Wetoszka and Sebastian Dominguez opened the scoring in Lipscomb's favor, earning a 6-2 win over their Norse opponents at the top spot.
 
Northern Kentucky earned their own doubles win with a 7-6 (7-5) win over Matheus Lima and Henrique Ushizima on court three. Juan Lombisano and Facundo Perlov pushed their opponents to the end, but eventually fell to their NKU opponents 7-6 (8-6) to give Northern Kentucky the doubles point and the early lead in the match.
 
Sebastian Dominguez tied things up for the Bisons as his opponent defaulted just two games into their singles match. Krzysztof Wetoszka gave the Bisons a brief lead with his decisive 6-0, 6-0 win on court one, but the Norse refused to go down without a fight.
 
Northern Kentucky struck back with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Matheus Lima to tie things once more at 2-2 but the lead changed hands once more as Carlos Salas Tulla was defeated 6-4, 6-3. Facundo Perlov battled hard with his opponent on court four, but ultimately fell 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) to his NKU foe.
 
Henrique Ushizima was deep in a three-set battle with his opponent on court three when the Norse clinched the match and the score was halted 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 2-1 in Ushizima's favor.

Lipscomb men's tennis will next travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to face off with the Chattanooga Mocs in a contest beginning at 12:00pm CT on Friday, Feb. 16th.
