Women’s Tennis Drops First Match of the Season to ETSU

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis hit the road for their second matchup of the season against an opponent from the Southern Conference. The squad traveled to Bristol, Tenn. to face off with the ETSU Buccaneers and fell 4-2 to the Bucs on Saturday morning.
 
The Bisons stumbled in doubles play as the match got under way on Saturday morning as the Mariya Dolzhenko and Sofiia Paladi fell 6-1 on court one and Anja Trbeznik and Sonia PIeczynska fell 6-2 to their own ETSU opponents on court three to allow an early 1-0 lead for the Bucs.
 
Lipscomb's squad fought back in singles play and Sofiia Paladi quickly put the Bisons on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court two to put the Bisons back in the match. The Bucs struck back shortly after with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Sasha Dobranos at the top spot.
 
ETSU's squad continued to press their advantage with a 6-0, 6-7, 6-3 win over Rut Galindo on court three before Mariya Dolzhekno claimed a 7-5, 6-1 win on court four to pull the Bisons within one of the Bucs. The Bucs clinched the match shortly after with their 6-3, 7-5 win over Anja Trbeznik on court four, halting Sonia Pieczynska's match on court six at 6-2, 1-1 in the favor of her Buc's opponent.

The Bisons will return home to their indoor facility at the Ensworth High School Tennis Center to take on Gonzaga on Sunday, February 18th in a matchup beginning at 5:00pm CT.
