Men’s Tennis Sweeps Eastern Illinois

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis welcomed their second opponent of the season to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center for a mid-morning matchup Sunday morning. The Bisons faced off with Eastern Illinois and emerged with a 7-0 sweep over the Panthers to end their weekend on a high note.
 
The Panthers struck first in the match, claiming a 6-1 win over Antoine Testaud and Krzysztof Wetoszka on court three, but the Bisons quickly put the pedal to the metal and bounced back with a pair of wins to claim the doubles point.
 
Matheus Lima and Henrique Ushizima combined for a 6-1 win on court one before Facundo Perlov and Carlos Salas Tulla clinched the doubles point for the Bisons with their 6-4 win over their Panthers opponents on court two.
 
Lima went on to extend the Bisons lead in singles play, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 win over his Eastern Illinois opponent on court three to open the scoring in the second stage of the match. Perlov put up a third point for the Bisons a short while later with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court four to put the Bisons in clinching territory.
 
Carlos Salas Tulla then clinched the match for the Purple and Gold with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win over his opponent on court five to secure Lipscomb's fifth win of the season. Antoine Testaud collected his third singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court six.
 
Krzysztof Wetoszka then claimed the squad's fifth singles win of the match at the top spot with his 6-2, 6-2 to push the Bisons up 6-0 in the contest. Henrique Ushizima then brought home the sweep for the Bisons in a three-set battle with his Panthers foe on court two, claiming a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 win to conclude Lipscomb's win.

The Bisons will take to the courts once more on Sunday, Mar. 3rd as they welcome the Dayton Flyers to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center for a matchup beginning at 9:00am CT.
