Women’s Tennis Drops Tight Match to Ospreys

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb women's tennis took on their second ASUN opponent of the season on Friday with a trip to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the North Florida Ospreys. With a tight tally between the two squads, the Ospreys ultimately clinched the close match and the Bisons fell 4-3 for their first conference loss of the season.
 
The battle began in doubles play where the Ospreys claimed the first doubles win on court two with a 6-2 win over Rut Galindo and Sasha Dobranos. The Bisons responded with a 6-3 win on court three from Anja Trbeznik and Deborah Dominguez Collado to even things up.
 
After a fierce battle on the top court, Sofiia Paladi and Mariya Dolzhenko fell 7-5 to their UNF foes and the Ospreys secured the first point of the match.
 
Sofiia Paladi evened things out for the Bisons with the first point in singles play after claiming a 6-3, 6-1 win on court two to bring things tied at 1-1.
 
North Florida's squad took the lead once more with their 6-4, 6-2 win over Rut Galindo on court three before moving into clinching position with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Anja Trbeznik on court five.
 
Mariya Dolzhenko brought the Bisons back into the fight with her 6-4, 6-4 win on court four, but the Ospreys cut the Bisons' momentum short with a clinch point win on court six over Deborah Dominguez Collado on court six (6-3, 6-2).
 
Sasha Dobranos brought home Lipscomb's third singles win of the day from the top spot where she emerged victorious with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 win over her Osprey opponent.
