Women’s Tennis Falls in Close Match to Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. – Lipscomb women's tennis traveled to Kennesaw, Ga. for their third ASUN matchup of the season on Sunday. The Bisons put up a strong fight, but the Owls eked out a 4-3 victory to send Lipscomb packing.
 
 Sunday's showdown started bright and early in the Peach State as Kennesaw State claimed an early lead with the doubles point.
 
Sofiia Paladi and Mariya Dolzhenko fell 6-2 on court one before Deborah Dominguez Collado and Anja Trbeznik fell 6-4 on court three to clinch the doubles point for the Owls.
 
The Owls moved into clinching territory with a pair of quick singles pints, going 6-2, 6-1 over Sonia Pieczynska on court five and 6-1, 6-2 over Mariya Dolzhenko on court four to take a 3-0 lead.
 
Sasha Dobranos claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at the top spot to slow the Owls' onslaught, but the host team clinched the match shortly after with a three-set win on court six over Deborah Dominguez Collado (5-7, 6-1, 6-2).
 
The Bisons dug in to keep the Owls from claiming any more points, however, as Rut Galindo delivered a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on court three and Sofiia Paladi put up a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 win on court six to end the day 3-4 in their third conference matchup of the season.

Lipscomb women's tennis will return home to Nashville, Tenn. for their next contest on Thursday, Mar. 28th to take on Queens (N.C.) in a matchup beginning at 10:00am CT.
