Women’s Tennis Sweeps Queens in First ASUN Home Match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis welcomed their first ASUN opponent to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on Thursday as the Queens (N.C.) Royals made the trip to Music City. The Bisons were hot from the first serve and soon delivered a 7-0 sweep over the Royals.
 
Rut Galindo and Sasha Dobranos set things off for the Bisons in doubles play with a 6-1 victory on court two that took just 22 minutes to secure.
 
Just four minutes later, Anja Trbeznik and Deborah Dominguez Collado combined for a 6-3 win on court three to clinch the opening point for the Purple and Gold.
 
Sofiia Paladi and Mariya Dolzhenko were up 5-3 with one point left in their match on court one when the doubles point was decided, and their match was abandoned.
 
Mariya Dolzhenko kept the Bisons' quick pace in singles play, delivering a 6-1, 6-0 win on court four in just 50 minutes to increase the Bisons' lead in singles play.
 
Anja Trbeznik logged a 6-1, 6-1 win just three minutes later on court five to widen the gap to a 3-0 lead before Rut Galindo clinched the match for the Bisons with her 6-1, 6-1 win on court three.
 
Alina Cherniaieva kept up the momentum for the Purple and Gold with her 6-0, 6-1 win on court six to push the Bisons up to a 5-0 lead.
 
Sofiia Paladi extended the Bisons' lead to six points with her 6-1, 6-3 win on court two before Sasha Dobranos completed the Bisons' sweep with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the top spot to secure the Bisons' sweep for their first home conference match.

The Bisons will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 30th as they welcome the Eastern Kentucky Colonels to Nashville for a matchup beginning at 10:00am CT.
