NASHVILLE – Lipscomb women's tennis cruised to a 6-1 victory over EKU on Saturday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
Lipscomb got off to a good start when it won the doubles point. The Bisons' No. 1 doubles team of
Sofiia Paladi and
Mariya Dolzhenko cruised to a 6-3 victory. Lipscomb's No. 3 doubles team in
Anja Trbeznik and
Deborah Dominguez Collado also defeated the Colonels 6-3 to lock up the doubles point for the purple and gold.
The only match of the afternoon that didn't go the way of the Bisons was the No. 5 singles match as Trbeznik fell to EKU 6-1, 6-4.
Lipscomb rolled in the remainder of the singles matches en route to the victory. At the No. 1 spot,
Sasha Dobranos got the Bisons going with a 6-4, 6-3 victory for an early point. Paladi cruised at the No. 2 spot with a 6-0, 6-2 win to keep the momentum going.
Rut Galindo and Dolzhenko were victorious at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Galindo won with scores of 6-4, 6-2 while Dolzhenko won each of her sets 6-2.
The final point of the afternoon came from
Alina Cherniaieva who blanked her opponent 6-0 in the first set and stayed in control with a 6-1 final set.
All told, Lipscomb picked up a 6-1 victory over EKU for its third ASUN victory of the season and 11
th overall.
