Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season With Two Decisive Wins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis concluded their regular season with a pair of ASUN matches on their home courts at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center. The Bisons swept Bellarmine 7-0 on Friday before celebrating Senior Day with a 6-1 win over Austin Peay on Sunday.
 
FRIDAY: LIPSCOMB 7, BELLARMINE 0
The Bisons set out with a hot pace against Bellarmine on Thursday and did not let off the gas until the match was through.
 
Lipscomb's squad dominated doubles play as the Knights only put up four players, quickly clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court two from Sasha Dobranos and Rut Galindo before Sofiia Paladi and Mariya Dolzhenko added an insurance win on court one with their 6-2 win.
 
The Bisons added two more points after Bellarmine couldn't put players on courts five and six, giving Deborah Dominguez Collado and Anja Trbeznik wins to add to their tallies.
 
Mariya Dolzhenko clinched the match with her blazing fast 6-1, 6-0 win, taking just 54 minutes to put away her Bellarmine foe.
 
Sasha Dobranos displayed her skill on the top court with a 6-1, 6-1 win before Alina Cherniaieva clocked the Bisons' next point with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court four to extend Lipscomb's lead to 6-0.
 
Sofiia Paladi then provided a 6-1, 6-2 win over her Knights opponent on court two to secure the Bisons' sweep.
 
SUNDAY: LIPSCOMB 6, AUSTIN PEAY 1
The Bisons began their final regular season match with a Senior Day celebration on a sunny Sunday morning in Nashville.
 
The Purple and Gold demonstrated their quick pace of play once more as the squad claimed the first point of the match with a pair of doubles wins.
 
Anja Trbeznik and Deborah Dominguez Collado combined for a 6-3 win on court three before Sofiia Paladi and Mariya Dolzhenko clinched the first point of the match for Lipscomb with their 6-2 win less than a minute later.
 
Paladi kept the momentum rolling in Lipscomb's favor as she claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win in just 66 minutes, bringing her to a 19-1 singles record for the season.
 
Mariya Dolzhenko added a third win to Lipscomb's tally as she claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win on court four to put the Purple and Gold in clinching territory.
 
The Governors got a point back on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court four over Rut Galindo.
 
Anja Trbeznik recorded the match clinching point on court five with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 win with a match-clinching ace to secure the Bisons' win.
 
Alina Cherniaieva pushed the Bisons up further to a 5-1 lead with her 7-5, 6-3 win on court six.
 
Senior Sasha Dobranos brought it home for the Bisons with a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) win on court one to secure Lipscomb's 6-1 win.

The Bisons will travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to take part in the 2024 ASUN Women's Tennis Conference Tournament, set for Friday, Apr. 19th-Sunday, Apr. 21st.
