Men’s Tennis Falls to #4 North Alabama in ASUN Tournament Quarterfinals

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lipscomb men's tennis concluded their 2024 campaign Friday afternoon in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 ASUN tournament. The #5 seeded Bisons fell 4-2 to the #4 seeded North Alabama Lions, ending the Purple and Gold's phenomenal 2024 season.
 
The Bisons started the day off strong in Fort Myers, claiming the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead in the match.
 
The Lions picked up the first doubles win with a 6-0 match over Carlos Salas Tulla and Facundo Perlov on court two before Henrique Ushizima and Matheus Lima evened things up with their 6-2 win on court three.
 
The dynamic duo of Krzysztof Wetoszka and Sebastian Dominguez claimed the third doubles win for Lipscomb at 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Bisons.
 
North Alabama closed the lead as they claimed the first point of singles play with their 6-3, 6-2 win over Dominguez on court three before taking the lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lima on court four.
 
Henrique Ushizima brought the Bisons back into it with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court two to tie things up with two points apiece.
 
The Lions found the momentum once more and moved into clinching position with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Facundo Perlov at the No. 6 spot before clinching the match after a drawn-out three set battle with Salas Tulla on court five that ended in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win for the Lions.
 
Wetoszka was locked in a fraught battle of his own at the top spot, but his match was halted at 6-7 (4-7), 5-5 with the first set to North Alabama when the match was clinched.
 
The Bisons end the season with their highest win total in program history with 11 wins this season with 69 singles wins across the squad this season and 38 doubles wins.
