Softball Swept by Central Arkansas in Sunday Loss

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb softball completed their weekend series against Central Arkansas with their Sunday afternoon showdown. The Bisons fought hard, but the Bears carried their momentum from Saturday into the Sunday matchup and left Music City with a 12-0 win over the Purple and Gold.

As Sunday's contest began, the Bisons' defense put up a strong showing in the top of the first inning, logging a double play and pulling down a popped-up knock in the infield to send the Bears away with no runs scored in the first frame.

The Bisons then stepped up to the plate and put two runners on base as Alyssa Hastings and Josey Polk knocked a pair of back-to-back singles, but two consecutive strikeouts from the Bears' pitcher ended the inning with zeroes on both sides.

Central Arkansas opened the scoring in the game with an out of the park home run on the first pitch of the second frame, but the Bisons' defense closed in to hold off another batter in scoring position and halt the Bear's momentum in the second frame.

The visitors from Conway added to their tally in the third inning with a RBI single that the Bisons attempted to recoup in the bottom of the frame but were sent away scoreless by UCA's defense.

Lipscomb's defense held the Bears to a three up, three down inning in the top of the fourth and looked ready to cut Central Arkansas' lead with three different batters finding first base, but the Bears sent the Purple and Gold packing and the score held at 2-0.

The visitors broke the game open in the top of the fifth with a four-run inning before extending their lead once again to reach a 7-0 mark in the top of the sixth with a RBI single.

Another RBI single in the top of the seventh, followed by a grand slam sent the Bears up to a 12-0 lead as the game entered the bottom of the seventh inning and the Bisons put two runners on base but three consecutive outs held Central Arkansas' lead in place and the Bisons' Sunday fate was sealed.
