Bisons Stumble in 1-6 Loss to Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis welcomed familiar foe Belmont to the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on Thursday for a brief non-conference matchup in the midst of their ASUN push. The Bruins came to play and were on their way to a sweep before a hard fought match from Facundo Perlov gave the Bisons a point and the visitors went on their way with the day's victory.
 
Lipscomb's squad began the day well, fighting hard in doubles play and claiming the first doubles win of the match as Facundo Perlov and Carlos Salas Tulla went 6-2 on court one to give the Bisons an edge.
 
Belmont's crew struck back with a 6-2 win over Krzysztof Wetoszka and Sebastian Dominguez on court two to even things up before claiming the double point with a 6-4 win over Matheus Lima and Henrique Ushizima on court three.
 
The Bruins ran away with the momentum as the match moved into singles play, three straight set wins in a row to clinch the match.
 
Matheus Lima dropped his court three match 2-6, 4-6 before Antoine Testaud fell 2-6, 1-6 to his opponent on court six and the Bruins moved into clinching position.
 
A hard battle on court one ended with a 6-2, 6-3 win for Belmont over Krzysztof Wetoszka to clinch the match for the Bruins before Facundo Perlov broke onto the scoreboard for the Bisons.
 
Perlov claimed a gritty set one victory 7-6 (7-2) over his Bruin opponent and was ahead 3-1 in the second set when his opponent was forced to retire, and Perlov added a victory to his singles tally for the year.
 
The Bruins responded decisively as they closed in on the two remaining matches and took a 6-3, 6-3 match over Henrique Ushizima on court two before concluding the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Carlos Salas Tulla on court five.
