Baseball Wins Friday Opener Over Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark - Lipscomb baseball won their fourth straight game and second straight on the road, taking care of Central Arkansas in game one of their weekend series with the Bears 7-3 Friday night.

Lipscomb got the scoring going in the top of the second on RBI a single up the middle from Carter Richey followed by an RBI single through the right side from Parks Bouck to take a 2-0 lead.

Central Arkansas would soon get both runs back in the bottom third on a triple to center field and the error to even the score after three.

The Bisons held the Bears scoreless and then scored four unanswered runs, the first coming on a sacrifice fly from Richey. His second RBI of the night came in the fourth to take back the lead.

Lipscomb then scored a run in the fifth on an RBi single from Trace Willhoite and three runs in the ninth on an Alex Vergara three-run blast to take a 7-2 lead with three outs remaining.

UCA manufactured a run in the ninth on an RBI single to short, but Lipscomb stifled the Bear's offense for most of the night, allowing just five hits. As a result, Lipscomb won game one of the series 7-3 and now heads into Saturday's doubleheader needing just one game to take the series.
