Lipscomb entered the match on a two-game win streak after defeating SEC opponent Ole Miss less than a week prior. The Bisons were predicted to finish the season second in the ASUN and EKU to finish fifth. Leading into the game, Lipscomb and EKU were ranked first and fifth in the ASUN respectively.
Sophomore
Hailey Johnson got the scoring action started with a beautiful goal in the 16' minute. Johnson weaved through the Colonel's defense, changing direction three separate times to find an opening to the goal. Johnson's goal was the first in her Division I athletic career after transferring from Lee University last season.
Just four minutes later,
Kiara Pralle scored Lipscomb's second goal of the match off a penalty kick. Pralle's attempt was the first of the season for the Bisons and was earned off a foul taken by
Lucy Hurst while dribbling the ball up the field. Pralle's goal in the 22' minutes is her seventh of the season and fourth in the past week.
To cap off the first-half scoring,
Faith Adams launched a rocket into the goal assisted by
Tatum Ahlemeyer. The ball was brought into play off a corner kick by
London De Fini. After receiving the ball back, De Fini headed the ball to Ahlmeyer who one-touched it to Adams for the goal at the top of the box. Adams's goal is the second of her career, both of which were scored this season. Freshman Ahlmeyer's assist was the only one on the afternoon and the first in her career.
Lipscomb plays their conference home-opener on Sept. 22
nd against Bellermine. The Bisons will kick off at 1:00 PM in hopes of staying undefeated after the opening weekend.
