Jacob Ognacevic's fifth double-double of the season, Lipscomb Men's Basketball defeated Austin Peay 88-60 on Saturday night in Allen Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Austin Peay opened the game with a triple to start an early aggressive pace. Lipscomb responded well and held a 7-5 advantage at the first media timeout after a
Will Pruitt triple regained the lead for the Bisons.
Lipscomb continued to defend well and clique on offense as a 7-0 run before the second media timeout pushed the Bisons to a 14-8 advantage.
The Bisons continued to keep the lead, but couldn't pull away from Austin Peay over the next several minutes as Lipscomb led 27-21 heading into the final four minutes of the first half.
Lipscomb nearly got out to a double-digit lead, but Austin Peay nailed back-to-back triples that got the Governors back within a pair (29-27) with 3:04 left in the half.
The Bisons closed the half on a 6-0 run expand back out to a 35-27 advantage at the halftime break.
Lipscomb got out to a hot start after the halftime break, opening a 39-27 advantage after the first two and a half minutes of the frame.
The squads continued to battle back-and-forth and at the 14:33 media timeout, Lipscomb held a 44-39 lead over the Govs.
Out of the timeout, Lipscomb went on a 10-0 run over two minutes for a 54-39 advantage to force an Austin Peay timeout.
Lipscomb continued to shoot at a high clip, and three Lipscomb triples pushed the Bisons ahead 68-48 with just over eight minutes left to play.
The Bisons continued on and led 78-58 at the final media timeout of the game. Lipscomb eventually finished off an 88-60 victory over Austin Peay on Saturday night.
HERD NOTES
- Ognacevic led all scorers with 31 points and added 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. He went 11-for-12 from the field and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe.
- Pruitt scored 14 points while Miles White and Anderson each contributed nine points.
- Lipscomb shot a season-high 60-percent from the floor in the matchup and 70.8-percent from the floor in the second half.
- The Bisons were 52-percent from three-point range.
- Lipscomb had 41 rebounds to Austin Peay's 22.
- Anderson matched a season-high with eight assists.
