NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University women's basketball team shot 10-of-20 in the final 10 minutes to pull away from the University of North Alabama, 85-76, Saturday afternoon inside Allen Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons showed strong defense in the opening quarter, allowing the Lions to 32% from the floor, while the home team scored 7-of-14.
Midway through the opening quarter, Lipscomb used a 7-0 run capped by a 3-pointer by
Jalyn Holcomb to lead 12-4. UNA did cut the deficit to 18-13 after one quarter.
In the second, UNA made it a 22-20 deficit thanks to a 5-0 run early in the period, but Lipscomb kept its composure and led 35-31 at the break.
Lipscomb made it a 55-44 lead with four minutes remaining in the third quarter with a jumper from
Bella Vinson. Unfortunately, North Alabama would not go away, as they used a 12-4 run to trim the Bisons lead to three, 59-56, with 10 minutes remaining.
With the help of Vinson and
Molly Heard, the Bisons used an 11-4 run to start the final period and used that run to fend off the Lions.
Lipscomb, who never relinquished the lead from the opening tip, held senior Charity Gallegos, who averages 13 points a game to seven points, all coming in the fourth quarter.
KEY STATISTICS
It was a career day for
Bella Vinson, who matched a career-high 28 points and matched a career-high in field goals made with 11 in the Bisons win. The senior also secured a double-double with a career-high 10 rebounds. Also on ball control, she added four assists.
Vinson dropped 15 of her points in the fourth quarter on 6-of-9 shooting and added five rebounds.
Molly Heard scored her second 20-point game of the season with 20 points on 8-of-12 in 19 minutes. The junior scored 15 of her 20 in the second half, including 11 in the fourth quarter.
Claira McGowan added 12 points, while
Ainhoa Cea scored seven points and dished out seven dimes.
With the 51.6% mark from the field, it marked the fourth time this year the Bisons have made at least 50% of their shots. The Bisons shot over 50% in three of the four quarters, including a 9-of-15 mark in the third.
HERD NOTES
Lipscomb extends its winning streak over North Alabama to seven on Saturday with the win. The Bisons are 9-5 now all-time against the Lions.
