
Women's Golf Starts Spring Campaign At Sea Best Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb Women's Golf kicked off its 2025 Spring campaign this week in Jacksonville, Florida at the Sea Best Invitational. The squad fought through illness over the two-day event, ultimately finishing 14th in the field with round scores of 315, 312, 314 (+77). The Bisons competed against fellow ASUN opponents FGCU, Jacksonville and Stetson.
Junior Casey Yu led Lipscomb throughout the three rounds of the tournament. Yu finished tied for 35th in the field of 81 competitors with scores of 75, 75, 74 (+8). Yu shot 25 pars, a top-15 mark in the tournament. She also added three birdies.
Lauren Thompson and Katya Tibbetts tied for 59th in the field. Thompson shot a 79 in each of the first two rounds before improving by several strokes with a 75 in the final round, ultimately shooting a 233 (+17). Thompson connected on 22 pars and three birdies. Tibbetts, competing for the first time since last season after being sidelined due to injury, got started with her 2025 campaign with an 80. She settled in and improved with a 76 and 77 in the second and third rounds, respectively. All told, she finished with a 233 (+17) and a team-high four birdies and 17 pars.
Lipscomb's final counting score came from Freshman Mariana Rodriguez who shot an 81, 82, 88 (+35) with 11 pars and three birdies. Tzunami Polito was Lipscomb's fifth competitor, but had to withdraw during the first round due to illness.

Lipscomb will be back in action Feb. 9-11 at the UNCG Advanced Golf Partners Collegiate. The tournament will be played at Hammock Creek Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
