JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Announced by the Atlantic Sun Conference on Wednesday afternoon, Lipscomb University's
Sofiia Paladi was selected as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
She picks up her third career weekly honor by the league after winning the award twice in 2024.
The junior wrapped the first week of the season with a 3-1 record that saw Lipscomb pick up team wins over Tennessee State and Western Kentucky.
Versus the Lady Tigers, the Odessa, Ukraine native picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at singles against Warona Mdluwa. In doubles action with partner
Serafima Bobrovnikova, they cruised to a 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot.
The next day versus the Lady Hilltoppers, despite dropping doubles, 3-6, the 2024 ASUN First Team honoree rallied back in singles to help clinch the match for the Bisons. Against Rachel Hermanova, she secured a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win at the top flight to help Lipscomb overcome a 2-1 deficit to defeat WKU, 5-2.
Paladi and the Bisons are back in action this weekend to open a four-match home stand. Lipscomb will host Middle Tennessee State on Saturday at noon from the Ensworth Tennis Center.
