HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisville controlled the pace early in the match, but the Bisons quickly felt the match out and began to earn more possession.
The Bisons quickly earned a pair of corner kicks in the opening minutes as
William Bryan was very active on the left wing.
In the 18' minute, the Bisons earned a free kick in a dangerous spot, about 25 yards from goal. The set piece ended up at the feet of
Levi Jones, who took a shot that went high.
Bryan continued to stay dangerous and rocketed a shot in the 26' minute that was blocked and let to yet another Lipscomb corner.
The best Lipscomb chance came in the 38' minute when
Josiah Green sent in a cross from the right side just in front of goal.
Zach Kennedy rose for a header that looked to be heading to frame, but sailed just high as the match remained scoreless.
The match was wide open through the final minutes of the frame, but neither team found the back of the net as the match was deadlocked at the halftime whistle.
The pace picked up right where it left off for the second frame with both teams searching for the go-ahead goal. That finally came for Lipscomb in the 57' minute.
William Bryan set up the scoring opportunity when he made an impressive run up the left side, which resulted in a Lipscomb corner. On the resulting set piece, Will Kennedy sent in a beautiful ball to a waiting
Baxter Hurt, who rose up and headed the ball to the back of the net for a 1-0 Lipscomb lead.
The Bisons' lead, however, only lasted a few minutes as the Cardinals equalized in the 63' minute with a header on the end of a corner kick for a 1-1 match.
After its goal, the Cardinals found some momentum and tested the Lipscomb defense, but the Bisons stood tall.
With 10 minutes left in the match, Lipscomb began to find more of the ball again and became more active in its attacking third. Jones stayed slippery and challenged the Cardinals' back line, looking for the winner.
With three seconds in the match, Louisville earned a free kick just outside the box and went for goal, but
Alex Kara dealt with it, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
