The Lipscomb Bisons extended their winning streak in ASUN play with a 3-1 road victory over North Alabama, remaining 5-0 in conference action. In a tightly contested match-up, the Bisons balanced patient possession, decisive finishing, and strong goalkeeping to come out on top, showing why they are one of the league's most dangerous teams.
The match began with both teams feeling each other out, creating an evenly contested battle early on. Lipscomb came close to taking the lead with an early corner kick, though the effort sailed high. UNA tried to strike on the counterattack, testing the Lipscomb defense with a few long-range attempts, but the Bisons were steady defensively. The Bisons gradually settled into possession, controlling the midfield and building sustained attacks. Bella Carapazza had two back-to-back long-range attempts, both just over the target. Lipscomb's pressure finally paid off when Lucy Hurst delivered a perfectly weighted cross in the air down the left flank, finding Hailey for a precise header that gave Lipscomb the early advantage. UNA responded with a free kick of their own, but Cesar came up big, making two crucial saves before halftime to preserve the lead.
The second half continued in a similar back-and-forth fashion, with both teams looking to capitalize on chances. Hailey came close again in a one-on-one opportunity, but the UNA goalkeeper made the save. Lipscomb struck again when Skylar calmly converted her own one-on-one with the keeper, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner with composure and extending the lead. Later, Lauren Bennett found the back of the net off a set piece, heading in a free kick from close range and showcasing Lipscomb's strength in organized attacking situations. UNA wasn't done, however, and managed to score during a chaotic sequence in the box, keeping the contest competitive. Lipscomb's defense, led by a strong performance from Bekah Doolittle, along with big saves from Audrey Tucker late in the match, ensured that the Bison maintained their advantage until the final whistle.
With this win, Lipscomb improves to 5-0 in ASUN play, continuing to assert themselves as one of the conference's top teams and leading the Gold Division. The Bisons return home next week to a second match-up against North Alabama on Thursday, October 9th, at 6 PM CT.
