FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lipscomb University Volleyball program saw its 2025 season come to a close in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, falling to the University of Central Arkansas in straight sets, Thursday morning from Alico Arena on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University.
Final Score: (4) Central Arkansas 3, (5) Lipscomb 0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-21)
Location: Fort Myers, Florida (Alico Arena)
Records: Lipscomb (14-13), Central Arkansas (16-11)
HOW IT HAPPENED
LUV used a quick 3-0 run early in set one on two kills by
Courtney Jones and a spike from
Brooklyn Fuchs to lead 7-3.
However, UCA rallied to take the lead, 10-9, before
Berkley Mischler ended the run with a kill. For the Sugar Bears, they maintained control and led 19-17.
After a quick timeout by the Bisons, they got a much-needed service error and a UCA attack error to tie the set at 19. Unfortunately, the Bisons could not get any closer, as they took the opener, 25-21.
LUV stormed out to a 6-3 start in set two after kills from Mischler and Fuchs. Later, ahead 6-5, the Bisons used a 7-4 run to lead 13-9 and force UCA to call a timeout.
Unfortunately for the Sugar Bears, that timeout sparked a 7-5 run to even the set at 18. Working through the Lipscomb timeout, UCA took a 23-20 lead.
The Bisons did cut the score to 24-23 on back-to-back kills from Mischler and
Courtney Jones. However, a Gabby Tuiaana kill gave Central Arkansas the 25-23 set two victory.
In the third, UCA took an early 8-4 lead, but LUV chipped away. Trailing 10-8, the Bisons used a 7-2 run to lead 15-12 on kills from Fuchs,
Ella Durham and Jones.
Later, the Sugar Bears stormed back to take the 19-18 lead on a service ace from Caylan Koons, and that ace was enough for Central Arkansas to finish the set on a 7-3 run to sweep Lipscomb out of the postseason.
