HOW IT HAPPENED

Jacksonville started the match with the majority of possession, and Lipscomb keeper Alex Kara was called on early, making a big save in the 6' minute to keep the match scoreless.

Lipscomb withstood a lot of pressure in the early minutes and Jacksonville broke through in the 15' minute when a long throw set piece found the back of the net as the Bisons trailed 1-0.

Kara continued to stay sharp when Jacksonville sent in a long shot that took a strange hop off the turf. He made a diving save and kept the ball in play to earn a goal kick, keeping the Dolphins from netting another.

Lipscomb's first shot came in the 34' minute when Robert Rodriguez dribbled up the left side and cut the ball to his right foot. He curled in a shot that looked to be headed for the back post, but skirted just wide.

Both sides had chances in their attacking third in the final minutes of the first half, but neither was able to score before the halftime whistle, as JU led 1-0 at the break. Jacksonville had 13 shots to Lipscomb's one at the half.

The Bisons started the half out well, earning a corner in the first minute of the frame. Mason Cooper whipped in a good service to the center of frame where Brayden Strait rose to get a head on it, but he couldn't direct it on target.

Jacksonville settled back in and put a lot of pressure on the Lipscomb back line, but it held strong, allowing just two shots in the half with 15 minutes to play.

With 10 minutes left to find an equalizer, the Bisons earned a free kick in its attacking third. The ensuing set piece banged around in the box and went out for a throw in. Lipscomb took a long throw, but couldn't get the ball settled to get off a good shot.

The Dolphins launched a counterattack and thought they had buried a second goal, but it was called back for offside. However, after video review, the Dolphins were awarded the goal, and Lipscomb trailed 2-0.

In the 40' minute, Lipscomb put its first shot on frame when Cooper got a shot off after a cross from Robert Rodriguez, but the save was easily made to keep the Bisons off the board.

Daniel Firek put another shot on frame for Lipscomb with two minutes remaining, but Lipscomb was ultimately shutout 2-0 as its season came to an end in the ASUN Quarterfinal.
