Hello family from El Salvador! Oh my goodness—we have
so much to share with you all when we get back, at least in more depth. We are in full-swing of the Lord's power, goodness, and righteousness appearing at every corner.
This morning was blessed by the hospitality of our leaders, Humberto, Mirna, and Hilda, who greeted us with a warm good morning. Today included lots of soccer, filled with kids who have taught us more than anything else could. When the Lord tells us to have childlike faith—oh, let me tell you—the pure joy and understanding demonstrated through these kids in this community was unmatched.
Neeley and Lauren had the opportunity to share their testimonies today with the kids and coaches within SII (Sports Impact International). Shoutout—if you haven't had the chance to meet them and get to know them, you 100% should.
Our closing verse for today came from 2 Corinthians 1:20:
"For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory."
There were many moments today where God showed up, but there are two I want to specifically share from Day 2.
The first involves a woman who lives not far from where we are serving. Her name is Matilde, and she is around 105 years old. I say "around" because at some point her birth certificate was lost, so there is no way of knowing her exact age. It is true that when we, as believers, are fully following and surrendered to Christ, it shows in our fruit.
As we visited with her and Humberto translated, he shared two things: first, that no one comes to visit Matilde; and second, that during his first interaction with her, he gave her everything he had at the time—$20. What Matilde did next surprised him. She went down the street to the local store, bought produce and items, and then turned around and sold them. She wanted to maximize the investment and make these items available to her community.
After praying with Matilde, she left us with two statements that were both deeply impactful and heart-wrenching. She said,
"I am sorry I have nothing to give you," and then thanked us for coming to see her, saying,
"The Lord doesn't visit—He lives in me." WOAH. THAT WAS GOOD. Mind you, this woman lives in what is maybe a 4x4 home, with a bathroom outside. Fam, this was a humbling and incredibly rewarding moment for many of us.
This ties directly into the second God moment. We had the opportunity to hear the testimonies of two Sports Impact International coaches, Daniel and Ariel—both were such a blessing to be a part of.
As Daniel shared his testimony, we learned that in El Salvador there are very few job opportunities, let alone consistent access to food for families. By the grace of God, Daniel is about to start a new job. In this country, working at a coal mine is comparable to becoming a doctor in America, and very few people ever get that opportunity.
When his mother was incarcerated due to unfortunate circumstances, Daniel knew something had to change. Through SII, and the faithfulness of Humberto, Mirna, and Hilda, he was introduced to the Gospel and given hope and determination in Christ. After struggling for many years—sometimes even going days without food—Daniel now has a relationship with the Lord and is about to begin this new job, all thanks to God's sovereignty.
God is a jealous God, and He loves His children—but even more, He is our ultimate provider. What a time, fam. What a reminder. And yet, there is still so much more that God has in store.
As we continue this incredible journey—a week of being on mission before bringing this mission back home—we ask that you continue to pray for this community. Please pray for these incredible kids we now call our friends, and whom we hope to one day welcome into our heavenly family.
PRAISE BE TO GOD!
Thank you for your support. From your family here in El Salvador—
te amo.
Buenas noches, familia!!
