THE SHORT STORY

Light-out shooting led Lipscomb Men's Basketball to a commanding 95-78 victory over Austin Peay on Monday night in Clarksville, Tenn.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The shots were falling early with four triples to open the game between the two squads.

After shooting over 60-percent and forcing several Austin Peay fouls, Lipscomb held a 10-6 advantage at the first media timeout.

The triple continued to fall for both squads, but the Bisons got a little more separation before the second media timeout with a 22-15 advantage.

Out of the timeout, Lipscomb increased its lead 24-15 when Jacob Ognacevic found a slashing Grant Asman who threw down a dunk for a 24-15 advantage that held to the under-eight media break.

Lipscomb picked up its defense and outscored Austin Peay 11-6 over the next four minutes to get out to a 35-21 lead, forcing an Austin Peay timeout after a near steal by Joe Anderson

The Bisons continued to shoot lights-out in the first half as Anderson drained Lipscomb's eighth triple of the half for a 40-24 advantage.

Lipscomb continued on to score well and keep Austin Peay at bay. The Bisons had the last shot, but it bounced off the back of the rim. Lipscomb, however, held a 43-29 advantage at the half.

At the break, the Bisons were shooting 62.5-percent from the floor and 64.3-percent from behind the arc.

Out of the halftime locker room, the Governors picked up its shooting pace, but the Bisons held serve. Ognacevic heated up from behind the arc with a pair of triples before the under-16 media timeout as the Bisons led 55-39.

Lipscomb continued to run its offense well, extending its lead 60-41 before the Govs called a timeout with 13:39 left in regulation.

The Bisons continued to stay in front, finding a way to score through the Govs' defense.

Just before the under-eight media timeout, Lipscomb scored its 15th and 16th triples of the night from Ognacevic and Anderson, respectively for an 80-55 advantage.

Austin Peay picked up its full court press coming out of the timeout, but the Bisons handled it well to continue running its offense.

The Govs picked up its shooting from beyond the arc, cutting into the Lipscomb lead 87-71 with 3:30 to play at the final media timeout.

Lipscomb took care of the ball throughout the final minutes of the game to come away with a 95-78 victory on Monday night in Clarksville.
