
Men's Basketball Picks Up Important ASUN Road Victory at West Georgia

THE SHORT STORY
Lipscomb Men's Basketball used a strong second half to defeat West Georgia 76-67 on Thursday night in an important ASUN road matchup. Jacob Ognacevic once-again led the Bisons with 24 points and eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game started as a shootout from the first whistle with the squads trading triples. Each team continued to shoot the ball well as West Georgia held a 16-12 advantage at the opening media timeout.
Out of the break, the Wolves opened up a 26-18 advantage forcing a Lipscomb timeout.
The Bisons battled back to 28-24 with just over eight minutes to go when Jacob Ognacevic drained a triple. The Wolves, however, continued to stay on top with a 30-24 advantage at the under-eight media timeout.
Lipscomb switched to a zone defense, which cooled the red-hot shooting of West Georgia, allowing the Bisons to get back within a couple of possessions, 34-30 with 3:24 left to play after yet another Ognacevic triple.
West Georgia continued to score well down the stretch and led the Bisons 40-33 at the halftime buzzer.
Out of the halftime break, the Bisons outpaced the Wolves 10-5, cutting the Wolves lead 45-43 at the first media timeout of the second frame.
Over the next few minutes, the Bisons continued to pick up the pace and took its first lead, 52-51, since the opening minutes of the matchup when Ognacevic threw down a dunk.
At the under-12 media timeout, Lipscomb held a slight 57-55 advantage over West Georgia. Lipscomb's lead continued through the next stretch of the matchup with the Bisons leading 67-64 at the under-eight media timeout.
Lipscomb got out to its largest lead of the night, 71-64, with 5:36 left in the second frame, but a West Georgia triple made that advantage short, making the score a tighter 71-67.
The Bisons were tight on defense and clinical offensively down the stretch, seeing out an important 76-67 road decision on Thursday night.
HERD NOTES
Lipscomb heads to Charlotte, N.C. to take on Queens on Saturday, Feb. 8. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. CT.
