SAN MARCOS, TX – Lipscomb Softball opened the 2025 season in San Marcos, Texas at the Texas State Tournament. During the first day of action, the Bisons faced off against the Bradley Braves in a 3-0 victory and fell to the #14 Arkansas Razorbacks 23-0
GAME 1: BRADLEY 0, LIPSCOMB 3
The Bisons started the season with a bang when
Brenna Sherman stepped up to bat. Sherman sailed the ball to left field with one out and one on base, sending her and
Alyssa Hastings home on a two-run homer.
Hastings led off the third inning with a home run of her own, launching the ball to the right field and over the fence. Her score was the final for the game from either team. The Bisons ended the game batting .222 on 6-27 to Bradley's .087 on 2-23.
Lipscomb offense was led by Sherman and Hastings. Sherman went 2-3 with a home run and two RBI, and Hastings recorded two bases with a home run and an RBI.
Courtney Sauer had a field day on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout with two walks.
GAME 2: LIPSCOMB 0, #14 ARKANSAS 23
Arkansas was dominant to open the matchup, scoring five runs in the first inning.
Macey Ogle relieved
Laine Barefoot from the mound in the second inning in an effort to slow the Razorback's offense. Arkansas responded by scoring another seven times before the third inning while simultaneously shutting the Bisons out.
Ryleigh Sapp stepped up to the mound in the third inning, limiting Arkansas to just two scores before Lipscomb took to the plate. The Razorbacks' defense remained seal-tight, allowing no scores to go up 14-0 after the third. Sapp continued pitching into the fourth inning before giving up a two-score homer on top of a single score.
Arkansas continued to dominate through the end of the game, scoring six times before solidifying their win at the end of the fifth. The Bisons were shut out by the fourteenth-ranked Razorbacks for a final score of 23-0.
Alyssa Hastings collected her third hit of the day and
Mallory Ogle recorded the first of her career.

The Bisons will return to Bobcat Softball Stadium tomorrow at 2:30 PM to face off against Texas State and again at 7:00 PM for a matchup versus San Diego.
