Box Score 2 SAN MARCOS, TX – Bisons Softball competed in their second day of the Texas State Tournament, falling to the host Texas State Bobcats and the San Diego Toreros.
GAME 1: TEXAS STATE 3, LIPSCOMB 0
The Bobcats got off to a hot start, scoring two unearned runs in the first inning.
Laine Barefoot stepped up going into the second inning down two scores and shut Texas State out. By the end of the third, the Bobcats had a three-run lead on the Bisons, shutting Lipscomb out.
Lipscomb stepped up on the defensive side after the fourth inning, allowing no more runs from the Bobcats. On the flip side, Texas State allowed only three hits with no runs throughout the seven innings.
Alyssa Hastings and
Macyn Kirby each recorded one hit from three at-bats while
Elle Smith recorded one from two at-bats. Barefoot pitched all six innings for the Bisons, walking away from the matchup with an ERA of 6.00.
GAME 2: SAN DIEGO 2, LIPSCOMB 0
The matchup between the Bisons and Toreros was pushed back from the earlier matchups in the day. The first pitch was thrown nearly 45 minutes after scheduled, but both teams were still on their A game.
Both teams came out to a slow start in terms of scoring until San Diego put themselves on the board late in the bottom of the third inning. By the time the Toreros scored, they had five hits to Lipscomb's none.
Laine Barefoot relieved
Courtney Sauer from the mound with one out in the bottom of the fourth. By the end of the inning, San Diego had two runs on seven hits and six strikeouts while Lipscomb had yet to record a hit or run, forcing only three strikeouts.
Lipscomb finished the matchup with one hit from
Alyssa Hastings and Barefoot threw a no-hitter in her time on the mound.

The Bisons will return one last time to Bobcat Softball Stadium tomorrow at 12:15 PM for a rematch against San Diego.
