NASHVILLE, TN - Lipscomb closed out the series in style on Saturday, riding timely hitting, standout defense, and one game-changing swing to an 8–4 win over Bellarmine.
After falling behind 2–0 early, the Bisons stayed composed and leaned on their defense to keep things within reach. Lipscomb played clean, controlled softball behind pitcher Jesyne Espinal, who worked a complete game and limited damage in key moments. The defense backed her up throughout, making routine plays look easy and preventing Bellarmine from extending innings.
The momentum shifted in the middle innings. Lipscomb broke through with a pair of runs in the fourth to tie things up, then delivered the decisive blow in the fifth.
That moment belonged to Elizabeth Martin.
Coming off the bench as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded, Martin crushed a go-ahead grand slam to center field, instantly flipping a tight game into a commanding Lipscomb lead. The swing not only accounted for four RBIs but also energized the dugout and effectively put the series-clinching game out of reach.
From there, Lipscomb continued to execute. Additional insurance runs in the sixth, highlighted by smart baserunning and situational hitting extended the lead, while the defense held firm late despite a Bellarmine push.
At the plate, the Bisons racked up 12 hits with multiple players contributing, but it was Martin's pinch-hit blast that defined the afternoon.
With the win, Lipscomb secures the series victory. The Bisons will fave Austin Peay to close our their home series play and celebrate senior night.
