NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University baseball team dropped an 8-3 decision to Villanova University in the second game of the weekend series, Saturday afternoon from Ken Dugan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats used the long ball early in the game with a two-run homer in the second by Brayden Leonard and a solo job by Jason Neff in the fourth to get out to a 3-0 lead.
Villanova added two runs in the sixth and cashed in a leadoff double in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Bisons, after going down in order in three of the last four innings, including back-to-back in the sixth and seventh, were extremely happy to see Luke McCollough out of the game after seven shutout frames.
With the Wildcats' new pitcher in Alec Sachais, Lipscomb posted three straight walks to start the eighth by
Ryan Austin,
Brady Miller and
Aaron Stelogeannis.
Jake Berg came up next and drove in two runs with a single, while
David Coppedge added a sac fly to make it a 6-3 score after eight.
However, the Wildcats ended a chance of a comeback rally in the ninth with two insurance runs.
KEY STATISTICS
Brady Miller reached in all three of his plate appearances in the nine-spot in the lineup, posting two singles and scoring a run.
Jake Berg totaled two RBI on the afternoon, while
David Coppedge added a double.
